Die Collabeez Expert:innen stellen sich vor! Interview Sebastian Multz

Our experts introduce themselves

Sebastian Multz

Hi, I'm Sebastian.
In the last few years, I've been working for a German car manufacturer in certification project management, driving an international digitalisation project. On the side, I'm currently doing a Master's degree (MBA) in sustainability and digitalisation.
I am a creative problem solver with a strong sense of entrepreneurship. My commitment to sustainability and my flexibility allow me to develop innovative solutions and work in partnership with different stakeholders.

What inspires you in your daily work?

The complexity that certification entails, as well as being involved in the entire product development process at all times, thereby strengthening contacts in all areas.

What demotivates you?

The typical theme of "we have always done it this way". What I mean is not so much that people have actively opposed something innovative, but rather that this way of thinking does not give them the space to even recognize the benefits that most changes bring.

Where do you see the biggest challenges in the automotive industry?

In the automotive sector, I see the biggest challenges in the transition to mobility without fossil fuels. Whether electric or hydro, there is a lack of infrastructure and truly sustainable storage systems. Hydro has it a bit easier in terms of storage, but the development of this is far from exhausted

In the green energy sector, I think the biggest challenge is the system stability of an electricity network of the future, as well as convincing humanity that it doesn't make sense to keep burning something to get energy, when there are other energy sources for which you don't even have to consume anything, because it's there anyway. So sun, wind, tides, waves. In the future, however, the system fluctuations could be balanced out by many small decentralized gas-fired power plants that can be quickly switched on as needed.

Where do you see opportunities for positive change?

Develop technologies in a meaningful way and educate people.
Sustainability must become a new (or old) normal, not just a buzzword that looks good in marketing. I also say old normal because, for example, it was still completely normal for our parents and grandparents to do everything they could to repair broken things before buying something new.

What are you working on right now?

I am currently in the process of making a leather studio and the processes behind it more sustainable. Among other things, with leather alternatives that don't contain PVC.

I am also planning a new way of holiday accommodation together with my partner and sister. One of many things we offer, are free personal sustainability offers, which means e.g. free yoga and meditation classes when you book with us.

What convinced you to become a part of Collabeez?

I find the opportunity to make things happen, together with such a young and modern collective, exciting. It never gets boring, because there are always new things to learn in diverse projects and with different experts.
